Billikens return to Earth, absorb 73-37 pasting by Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio -- Kendall Pollard scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Dayton notched its fifth straight win, rolling to a 73-37 win over Saint Louis on Wednesday night.
Pollard finished with 8-of-9 shooting from the field for the Flyers (17-3, 7-1 Atlantic 10 Conference). Dyshawn Pierre added 12 points and eight rebounds, Charles Cook had 10 points and five rebounds and Steve McElvene tied the school record with six blocks. Dayton had a 50-29 rebounding edge over Saint Louis.
Scoochie Smith sank a 3-pointer to give Dayton a 13-10 edge with 7:31 to go in the half and the Flyers led 26-17 at the break.
Pollard hit four consecutive jumpers early in the second half to stretch it to 44-21 with 14:21 to play. Dayton led by double digits the rest of the way.
Over the four previous contests, the Billikens (8-12, 3-5) had averaged 83 points per game.
