Blake Bortles calls Jaguars' color rush uniforms 'ugly as hell'

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is not a fan of color rush uniforms.

Blake Bortles doesn’t like looking like a bottle of mustard? Weird. Well, I’ll tell you what, Blake, I wouldn’t either. While speaking to the media on Tuesday, Bortles called the Jaguars’ color rush uniforms “ugly as hell.” He isn’t wrong.

The uniforms which were worn during last season’s Thursday night matchup between the teams will be worn again in two days. They feature a gross combination of yellow and gold for the Jaguars and a slightly irritating baby blue for the Titans:

The Central Florida quarterback isn’t wrong with his comment. All you need is a pair of functioning eyes to see just how disgusting those uniforms are. Maybe they could have gone with black, or heck, even green. Just not puke yellow. All we can do is say a prayer that Thursday’s game isn’t as putrid as the uniforms. I’m not holding out hope.

While his comment is all well and true, it sets up for an easy criticism of the quarterbacks’ recent play. Here it goes: Blake, those color rush jerseys are just as disgusting as your play has been the past few weeks. Pro Football Focus graded Bortles as the eighth worst player at any position this weekend. He faced the Oakland Raiders who coming into the game owned the worst pass defense in the league.

Bortles has yet to have a completion percentage over 64 this year and has faced arguably the easiest schedule of any quarterback in terms of pass defense. Head coach Gus Bradley has made it known that he still trusts his quarterback stating that he still “firmly believes” in him. Firm belief is great, but his play needs to improve as it’s effecting the Jaguars entire offense. After a breakout campaign in 2015, wide receiver Allen Robinson has been almost invisible during the past few weeks.
