Blue Jackets activate Bobrovsky off IR

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky off Injured Reserve and assigned goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Bobrovsky, 27, has missed the past 19 games since suffering a groin strain on January 21 vs. Calgary. He is 11-13-1 with a 2.65 goals-against average, .911 save percentage and one shutout in 27 games this season. The Novokuznetsk, Russia native has compiled a 136-84-25 record with a 2.52 goals-against average, .918 save percentage and 12 shutouts in 257 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers. Acquired from Philadelphia via trade on June 22, 2012, he has posted a 94-61-15 record with a 2.43 goals-against average, .921 save percentage and 12 shutouts in 174 appearances with Columbus and won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goaltender following the 2012-13 campaign.

Korpisalo, 21, has gone 14-8-4 with a 2.63 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 26 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has compiled a 13-3-3 record with a 2.28 goals against average and a .929 save percentage in 19 starts since January 13. The Pori, Finland native made 27 saves in a 2-1 loss vs. Tampa Bay in his NHL debut earlier this season on December 14. He has also posted a 5-6-2 record with a 2.34 goals against average, .918 save percentage and two shutouts in 13 games with Lake Erie.

Columbus' third pick, 62nd overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft, Korpisalo is 5-8-2 with a 2.49 goals-against average, .912 save percentage and two shutouts in 16 career AHL games since making his North American professional debut with the Springfield Falcons late in the 2014-15 season. He went 14-13-7 with a 2.34 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 38 games with Ilves Tampere (Liiga) in 2014-15.
