Blues activate Jaden Schwartz from IR

ST. LOUIS -- It might be too much to expect the St. Louis Blues' offense to turn around with the return of one guy, but hey, the activation of Jaden Schwartz sure can't hurt.

Schwartz, 23, has missed the Blues' last 49 games after suffering a broken left ankle at practice Oct. 23.

"Your foot's locked in a boot for six weeks, you don't have much movement so you've got to get that back to skate like you did before," Schwartz told the Associated Press. "I want to go in and be ready to play, so the ankle shouldn't be something I'm thinking about."

The Blues hope Schwartz can help ignite a stagnant offense. Since beating Pittsburgh 5-2 on Jan. 18, the Blues have scored only 10 goals in seven games -- and in five of those games they scored no more than one goal. Somehow (read: Elliott allowing just nine goals), St. Louis is 3-3-1 in that stretch.

"We've got to tap the breaks," Hitchcock told the AP. "He's going to have his hands full just keeping up."
