Blues place Lehtera on injured reserve

Published Oct. 19, 2016 4:20 p.m. ET

Turns out Jori Lehtera won't be joining the Blues for part of their swing through western Canada after all. The Blues placed him on injured reserve Wednesday.

Lehtera suffered an upper-body injury during the Blues' 3-2 win over the Rangers on Saturday. So did two teammates, forward Kyle Brodziak and defenseman Carl Gunnarsson, but they were well enough to fly with the team to Vancouver on Monday. Coach Ken Hitchcock had speculated that Lehtera might join the team later in the trip, which goes to Edmonton on Thursday and Calgary on Saturday, but that won't be happening.

Lehtera, 28, has no points in three games this season. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound forward has 78 points (23 goals, 55 assists) in 157 career regular-season games.
