ST. LOUIS -- The Blues recalled goalie Jordan Binnington from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League on Sunday, providing the team some depth while waiting to see the extent of an apparent ankle injury to starter Jake Allen.

Binnington had been assigned to Chicago on Friday. A day later, Allen left the Blues' final preseason game against the Blackhawks after one period. He was injured when teammate Carl Gunnarsson fell on his left leg and was replaced by Carter Hutton, who is slated to back up Allen this season.

The Blues also assigned forward Landon Ferraro to their AHL affiliate.
