Blues send Binnington, Rattie back to AHL Wolves

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues made two personnel moves Monday -- assigning goaltender Jordan Binnington and forward Ty Rattie to their American Hockey League affiliate -- that could portend the return of injured players after the All-Star break.

Binnington was called up from the Chicago Wolves to provide a backup to Brian Elliott while Jake Allen heals from a lower-body injury. Rattie was recalled amid a variety of injuries on the forward and blue lines. The assignments of Binnington and Rattie could mean that Allen and perhaps forward Jaden Schwartz, who was injured at practice early in the season, are close to a return.

The Blues' first game after the All-Star break is Feb. 2 at Nashville.

Binnington, 22, has appeared in 17 games with the Wolves this season, posting an 8-6-2 record and a 2.57 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout. He appeared in one game during his stint with the Blues, stopping three of four shots in 13 minutes of play.

Rattie, 22, has dressed in 29 games with the Wolves this season, ranking fourth on the club with 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists). The 6-foot, 189-pound forward has also made 11 appearances with the Blues, posting five points (three goals, two assists).
