The St. Louis Blues traded up in Friday's NHL Draft, sending their first-round pick (28th overall) and a third-round pick (87th overall) to the Washington Capitals for the 26th pick. With that selection, they took center Tage Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 185-pounder from the University of Connecticut.

In 36 games last year for UConn, Thompson had 14 goals, 18 assists and 12 penalty minutes while posting a minus-14 rating.
