Bowden, Tuberville still hold Iron Bowl records
Today marks one of the most important Iron Bowls ever, but it could take some help for this game to be truly special. If Alabama takes care of business, it's off to the SEC championship with a chance to go to the BCS title game with a win. If Auburn pulls off the upset, Ohio State will most likely play for the National Championship -- IF they beat the school up north today.
Fun facts about current Ohio football coaches in the Iron Bowl:
Cincinnati Bearcats coach Tommy Tuberville, Auburn's head coach from 1999–2008, will attend Saturday's Iron Bowl.
- Tuberville's son, Tucker, is currently a walk-on quarterback at Auburn.
- Tuberville beat Alabama in six consecutive seasons (2002-07). Tuberville's streak of consecutive wins against Alabama is the longest by any Auburn coach.
Akron zips coach Terry Bowden, Auburn's head coach from 1993-1998, is the last coach to win an Iron bowl in his first year.
- The only coaches to win their final Iron Bowl appearance are Gene Stallings in 1996 and Bowden in 1997.
The only two Auburn coaches to win more than half of their Iron Bowls are Terry Bowden (3-2), and Tommy Tuberville (7-3).
