Bracketology roundup: Win over Gophers boosts Badgers
With their three-game skid at an end and a much-needed win over Minnesota in the books, the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team got a small bump in the latest NCAA tournament projections Monday morning.
With several No. 6 projections the Badgers are one of Bracket Matrix's No. 7 seeds, even as a handful of pundits ranked Wisconsin as low as a No. 9 seed.
FOX Sports' Stewart Mandel had Wisconsin as a No. 7 seed prior to the win, sending them to Sacramento alongside No. 10 seed Wichita State, as well as No. 2 UCLA and No. 15 NC Central.
Meanwhile, ESPN and CBS thought the Gophers game merited a boost.
ESPN's Joe Lundardi placed the Badgers in Orlando as a No. 6 seed opposite No. 11 Middle Tennessee, with No. 3 Florida State and No. 14 Winthrop on the other side.
CBS also went with a No. 6 rating, as well as a trip to Indianapolis to face either Wake Forest or Kansas State.
A win in CBS' bracket would earn them a date with either No. 3 Louisville or No. 14 Bucknell.
USA Today, NBC Sports and SB Nation all have the Badgers headed to Indianapolis as a No. 7 seed, with NBC and USA Today opting for VCU and SB Nation going with Wake Forest.
