Recently back from the disabled list, Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips earned himself a milestone moment Wednesday night.
Phillips slapped a 2-1 pitch from Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn into left field for a seventh-inning single and 1,500th hit of his major-league career.
Of his 1,500 career hits, 1,411 have come as a member of the Reds, which puts him at No. 12 among the also Reds all-time hit leaders.
Phillips is just 89 hits from earning a place in the top 10 of that list, which features elite company such as legends Barry Larkin, Johnny Bench and baseball's all-time hits leader Pete Rose.
Phillips' 1,000th career hit came in 2011 on a home run against the Indians.
The 33-year-old returned to the Reds lineup Monday after being sidelined for more than a month with a thumb injury. In 89 games played this season, Phillips is hitting .269 with 7 HR and 40 RBI.
