Brewers call up 31-year-old minor-league catcher Nevin Ashley
Nevin Ashley has played for 11 different teams during his professional baseball career. Now, in late 2015, his per diem meal money is about to improve dramatically.
The Milwaukee Brewers called up Ashley on Monday afternoon, after his solid season in the minor leagues.
What makes this move unique? Ashley is a 31-year-old catcher who had yet to taste life in the big leagues, until now.
Ashley, a former sixth-round draft pick out of Indiana State back in 2006, is a .263 career hitter over 10 minor-league seasons. This year, the 31-year-old hit .306 with eight home runs and 61 RBI for Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Also on Monday, the Brewers also recalled infielder Luis Sardinas from Colorado Springs. Additionally, Milwaukee assigned right-handed pitchers Brandon Kintzler and Preston Guilmet to the Triple-A SkySox. Milwaukee's 40-man roster is now at 37.
