Brewers' Davis on pace for historic month
It has been mentioned here before, but Khris Davis is having one heck of a month. In fact, Davis could join some very rare company in Milwaukee Brewers history.
As August winds down, Davis leads the National League in home runs (10) in the month and is tied for the lead in RBI (23). Only six other times in franchise history has a player led (or tied for the lead) in both those categories in a month, and only four players have done so. And of those six instances, only one time has it been accomplished with the Brewers in the National League.
BREWERS TO LEAD LEAGUE IN HR & RBI IN MONTH
Player | Month | HR | RBI |
Gorman Thomas | August 1979 | 12 | 32 |
Gorman Thomas | June 1982 | 11 | 29 |
Cecil Cooper | July 1983 | 10 | 39 |
Rob Deer | August 1986 | 11 | 29 |
Rob Deer | August 1988 | 8 | 26 |
Prince Fielder | June 2011 | 10 | 27 |
While the Brewers seem to be getting to play Cincinnati at the right time - the Reds are 6-19 in August, one of their worst months in history (only four worse with a 6-31 September/October in 1914 "leading" the way) - the rest of Milwaukee's schedule won't be as easy.
