Brewers loving life at home, especially vs. Pirates

The Milwaukee Brewers continue their homestand at Miller Park, which normally in itself would be a good thing.

The team is 12-5 at home since July 25, the second-best home record in the major leagues over that time period.

But with the Pittsburgh Pirates in town, things look even better for the Brewers.

Since the 2015 All-Star break, Milwaukee has beaten Pittsburgh in all nine games played at Miller Park. Here's the breakdown:

  Pirates Brewers
Runs/G 2.7 5.7
Starter ERA 6.51 2.08
Team BAvg .189 .323
Home runs 7 10

That nine-game winning streak at Miller Park against the Pirates is tied for the fourth-longest active home winning streak for a team against any opponent. The current leaders are the Mets against the Blue Jays and Giants vs. the Padres at 11 games.

Pitching on Thursday night for the Brewers is Wily Peralta, who has done well in his two home starts following his recall from the minors. Before being sent down, Peralta had a 7.79 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and .379 opponent batting average in seven home starts. But in last two home starts, Peralta's ERA is 2.25 with a 1.000 WHIP and .200 opponent batting average.

Other notes:

-- Hernan Perez has five multiple-hit games against the Pirates since the All-Star break, tied for the most of any player vs. an opponent in that span. And Perez has only faced Pittsburgh six times.

-- Ryan Braun has 29 home runs against Pittsburgh, the most of any active player since 2007.
