Brewers sign pitcher Tommy Milone, infielder Eric Sogard
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers have signed former Oakland Athletics infielder Eric Sogard to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major league camp in spring training.
Sogard hit .247 with one homer and 37 RBIs in 120 games for Oakland in 2016. The left-handed hitter was 6 of 7 in stolen-base attempts.
The Brewers announced the signing of Sogard on Thursday, along with the re-signing of minor-league pitcher Hiram Burgos. Milwaukee also inked left-hander Andy Oliver, who spent last season in the Orioles organization.
Burgos and Oliver also have invites to major league camp.
Those moves came a day after free agent left-hander Tommy Milone signed a one-year deal to fill out Milwaukee's 40-man roster.
A six-year veteran, Milone was 3-5 with a 5.71 ERA in 19 games, including 12 starts, with Minnesota last season.
Milone's addition gives Milwaukee a lefty to potentially compete for a spot in an otherwise right-handed starting rotation.
