Browns acquire punter Andy Lee from 49ers
CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Browns have acquired three-time Pro Bowl punter Andy Lee in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Browns also waived punter Spencer Lanning, who signed with the club as a free agent in 2013.
Cleveland sent a late-round 2017 draft pick to the Niners for Lee, who made the Pro Bowl in the 2007, 2009 and 2011 seasons. His days in San Francisco were numbered when the Niners drafted Clemson punter Bradley Pinion.
Lanning's release completes a clean sweep of Cleveland's specialists. Long snapper Christian Yount was waived last week and the club cut kicker Garrett Hartley, who took over the kicking duties late last season after Billy Cundiff was let go.
Lanning had been scheduled to appear at the team's fanfest on Saturday. He sent out a note of thanks on Twitter to Cleveland fans for their support.
