MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Bucks forward Carlos Delfino underwent successful surgery on his right foot Saturday morning in Argentina, general manager John Hammond announced.
Dr. Donato Villani, team physician for the Argentinean national soccer team, performed the surgery at Sanatorio de la Trinidad in San Isidro, Buenos Aires.
Delfino first developed pain in his right foot in the final months of last year's regular season and fractured the foot while dunking over Kevin Durant in Game 5 of Houston's first-round playoff loss to Oklahoma City.
The 31-year-old announced at the team's media day in September that he had suffered a setback. He tried multiple ways to rehab the injury after the setback but Saturday's surgery was eventually deemed necessary.
Delfino took to his website on Nov. 10 to announce that he needed surgery and he will miss the entire season. The Bucks have yet to officially rule Delfino out for the season, saying he will be re-evaluated after going through eight weeks of non-weight bearing restrictions.
Signed to a two-year deal with a team option for a third season that could make the deal worth $9.75 million on July 17, Delfino hasn't played in a game this year. This is his second stint with the Bucks, as Delfino averaged 10.6 points per game with Milwaukee from 2009-2012.
