Bucks sign draft picks Maker, Brogdon
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed draft picks Thon Maker and Malcolm Brogdon, the team announced Saturday.
Maker, 19, was the 10th overall pick in the first round of this year's draft. He played played two seasons for the Athlete Institute Academy in Mono, Ontario, and was league MVP this past season. The 7-foot-1 South Sudan native averaged 14.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in five NBA Summer League games, earning him All-NBA Summer League Second Team honors.
Brogdon, 23, played four seasons at Virginia and averaged 18.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game as a senior in 2015-16. He was named the 2016 ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player in conference history to earn both honors in the same season.
The Bucks drafted Brogdon 36th overall. He averaged 10.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists in five Summer League games and was one of 25 players chosen for the 2016 USA Men's Select Team that trained with the 2016 USA Basketball Men's National Team during its training camp.
