Bucks trade Tyler Ennis to Houston for Michael Beasley
The Milwaukee Bucks bulked up their frontcourt Thursday by acquiring Michael Beasley from the Houston Rockets for point guard Tyler Ennis.
Listed as 6-foot-10, 235 pounds by the Rockets, Beasley doesn't figure to fill the void left by the injury to swingman Khris Middleton.
Entering his ninth NBA season, Beasley has career averages of 13.0 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 45.2 percent from the field. Beasley has made 236 3-pointers in his career (just 0.5 per game) at a 34.3 percent rate.
Beasley signed with Houston late last season after being named MVP of the Chinese Basketball Association, where he averaged 31.9 points and 13.2 rebounds for Shandong. In 20 games with the Rockets, Beasley averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds. His usage percentage was a 29.7 percent (the same as Carmelo Anthony) and his Player Efficiency Rating was 22.5 (the same as Karl-Anthony Towns).
"We're excited to add a player with Michael's skill set to our team," Bucks general manager John Hammond said in a statement. "He's someone that we've kept our eye on the last few seasons and we're looking forward to watching him compete throughout training camp and the season."
Acquired from the Suns in 2014, Ennis played 46 games for the Bucks last season, averaging 4.5 points and 2.1 assists. With Giannis Antetokounmpo expected to get the brunt of minutes at point guard and Michael Carter-Williams the backup, playing time in Milwaukee likely would have been limited for Ennis in 2016-17.
