Buffalo scores 3 defensive TDs to beat FAU 33-15
Travis Pitzonka returned a fumble for a score -- the first of three Buffalo defensive touchdowns on the day -- and the Bulls beat Florida Atlantic 33-15 on Saturday.
Buffalo (2-1) trailed 9-0 toward the end of the second quarter with Florida Atlantic driving when Jay Warren was stuffed on third-and-short and coughed it up. Pitzonka gathered the fumble and rumbled 60 yards for the score.
In the third quarter, Ryan Williamson returned a fumble 34 yards to set up Adam Mitcheson's 19-yard field goal and Boise Ross returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown. The Bulls forced a safety and later scored on Jordan Johnson's 19-yard run. Late in the fourth, Okezie Alozie sacked Jason Driskel to force another fumble, and Brandon Crawford picked it up and took it 11 yards for Buffalo's third defensive touchdown.
Florida Atlantic turned it over five times despite running up 490 yards of offense, compared to 290 for Buffalo.
