Buxton has bruised knee after running into outfield wall

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 1:43 a.m. ET

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton left Friday night's game at Texas with a bruised right knee after crashing into the outfield wall in the first inning.

The ball hit by Rougned Odor clipped off the edge of Buxton's glove and the bill of his cap before he ran into the padded wall. The impact broke his sunglasses into multiple pieces.

Buxton was eventually taken off the field on a motorized cart, climbing into the front seat with help and without putting any pressure on his right leg.

The Twins said Buxton was day-to-day.

Buxton was initially slow getting up, but gingerly walked back toward his position before manager Paul Molitor went out on the field with a trainer to check on him.

Buxton then sat down on the ground and reached at his right leg.

Eddie Rosario replaced Buxton in center field.
