The St. Louis Cardinals have officially activated left-hander Jaime Garcia from the 15-day disabled list, the club announced Tuesday. Right-handed reliever Sam Tuivailala was optioned to Triple A Memphis following Monday night's game. Garcia is slated to start Tuesday's game against Cincinnati.

Garcia, who missed 20 games since going on the disabled list July 4, is 3-3 with a 1.69 ERA in seven starts this season -- the last coming on June 24 at Miami.

Garcia, 29, worked five scoreless innings in an injury rehabilitation start for Single A Peoria July 23, teaming with two Chiefs relievers on a combined no-hitter. Garcia fanned six batters in that start, allowing just one base-runner (hit batsman), while throwing 58 pitches.
