Cavs tie franchise record with 13th consecutive win

Published Dec. 6, 2017 11:51 p.m. ET

If you asked Cavaliers fans just three weeks ago, after a 5-7 start, if the Cavs would find themselves 3.5 games behind the 22-4 Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference, they might ask back what kind of winning streak did they go on.

Well, the answer is a franchise record tying 13-game winning streak. With that 5-7 start, the Cavs have now reeled off 13 straight wins to move to 18-7 and are playing some of their best basketball this early in the season in LeBron James' second tenure with the Cavs.

In Wednesday's 101-95 win over the Sacramento Kings, the Cavs started off sluggish but Kyle Korver's three straight 3-pointers to begin the fourth quarter led to another MVP-like finish from The King. James finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and a step back three pointer to ice the game. That late 3-pointer was with St. Vincent-St. Mary alum JaKarr Sampson guarding him, and in his postgame comments, James made sure he let Sampson know how the Class of '03 does things.
