CBJ captain Nick Foligno picked to represent U.S.

COLUMBUS, OH -- Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno is among the first 13 players selected to represent the United States National Team at the 2016 IIHF World Championships to be held from May 6-22 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, USA Hockey announced today.

Foligno, 28, registered 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points with 53 penalty minutes in 72 games this season. The Buffalo, New York native has tallied 128-188-316 and 526 penalty minutes in 617 career games with the Blue Jackets and Ottawa Senators in nine NHL seasons. Acquired from Ottawa via trade on July 1, 2012, he has posted 67-101-168 with 227 penalty minutes and a +13 plus/minus rating in 266 games with the Jackets.

Originally the Senators' first pick, 28th overall, in the 2006 NHL Draft, Foligno has represented the United States at two prior international tournaments, participating in the 2009 and 2010 IIHF World Championships.
