CFB AM: Oregon makes parody of hot Alabama sorority video
Earlier in August, an Alabama sorority took the Internet by storm by creating an entertaining recruitment video that featured a lot of pretty girls and Crimson Tide running back Kenyan Drake.
It then blew up into a huge controversy when the university made the sorority pull the video off the Internet because it was "not reflective of UA's expectations for student organizations to be responsible digital citizens."
Luckily we weren't the only ones who saw the humor in the whole situation. So did the Oregon Ducks.
Oregon created a parody of the Bama sorority video that features the Oregon Duck mascot recruiting for Autzen Stadium. The Duck twirls sunflowers, blows glitter and prances around fawningly inside Autzen. It's a genius video (watch at the top of this post).
Also genius? The YouTubers who spend their days making sure Americans have the right to freely view sorority recruitment videos. Here's the Alabama sorority video if you haven't seen it yet (which I'm guessing most of you have, since it's almost at 2.7 million views).
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. The Josh Rosen era has begun
A week after ripping stud freshman Josh Rosen in front of media and admitting he can be an "asshole" to players at practice -- all out of love, of course -- UCLA coach Jim Mora officially announced the hyped five-star recruit will be the Bruins' starting quarterback Week 1 against Virginia, and there will be no QB controversy should Rosen struggle to start the year. "I've made it very, very clear that I am a one-quarterback type of coach," Mora said on Wednesday. "I want to put a guy in that position and support the heck out of him and help him have success and rally around him if he's struggling. That's what I will do, that's what this staff will do and that's what this team will do."
Colleague Bruce Feldman has a lot more on Rosen here from his quarterback book. I can't wait to see Rosen in Week 1. There's no fair way to put this considering he hasn't played a down of college football, but given all the hype coming into UCLA and Mora saying flatly "he's living up to that billing," Rosen's debut is the most anticipated first game since Jameis Winston's 2013 debut against Pitt, where he tore up the Panthers for 356 yards and four TDs and completed 25 of 27 passes.
2. Ohio State suffers a big loss
Wide receiver Noah Brown is out for the season after reportedly breaking his leg in practice on Wednesday. By all accounts, he was tearing up camp for the Buckeyes. "There was a point in camp no one could cover him," cornerback Eli Apple said. "He was just so physical and really good with his hands, and he catches everything." This makes the season-opener at Virginia Tech even more interesting considering Ohio State was already without receivers Corey Smith, Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson due to suspension (not to mention defensive end Joey Bosa). Sure, the Buckeyes still have plenty of talent to go around on offense, but that Labor Day Monday night game in Blacksburg against one of the nation's best defenses is not a sure thing at all for the defending national champs.
Speaking of Virginia Tech, defensive coordinator Bud Foster put his foot in his mouth a bit yesterday by saying VT was considering fining players for missing meetings and other transgressions of the like. Wait, how can VT fine players who supposedly aren't employees? Great question! Foster said the money would be docked from the cost of attendance allowance given to players. Thankfully, Virginia Tech's athletic director was quick to say, no, the Hokies will not be doing that.
3. Team bonding, Holy Cross style
How do you get players fired up at practice? A couple Holy Cross coaches went all-in on a WWE-style brawl, complete with a walk-off chokeslam. This is so great.

LASTLY
We are officially a week away from the most hyped season-opening college football game and coaching debut ever ... North Carolina vs. South Carolina, with Gene Chizik leading my Tar Heels' defense.
Oh, yeah, Michigan at Utah featuring Jim Harbaugh's khakis will be pretty fun, too.
Have a great Thursday, everyone. Football is right around the corner.
