Clippers guard JJ Redick becomes first NBA player to host in-season podcast
JJ Redick will always be able to say he was the trail blazer.
The Clippers guard will host 'The Vertical Podcast with JJ Redick', a weekly audio series featuring new episodes each Tuesday. Redick is the first NBA player to lead an in-season podcast.
DGital Media, along with Yahoo! Sports, announced the launch of the Redick podcast, part of 'The Vertical Podcast with Woj', an audio series with Yahoo! Sports NBA Reporter (and FOX Sports 1 contributer) Adrian Wojnarowski.
"Fans are always clamoring for unique content, we don't think there can be more of a unique offering than a weekly look into the goings-on of an NBA season through the eyes and words of one of its more seasoned veterans, the LA Clippers' JJ Redick ," said Chris Corcoran, Chief Content Officer of DGital Media, in a statement on Wednesday. "'The Vertical Podcast with JJ Redick won't just be about basketball; it will give fans a great listen into the storytelling narrative of an elite athlete living and playing in Los Angeles, whose background appeals to such a wide audience."
Redick should have plenty to talk about, with Blake Griffin breaking a bone in his hand after punching an equipment manager a very hot topic this week.
Redick, in his third season with the Clippers and 10th overall in the NBA, is having the top statistical year of his career. He's averaging 16.6 points per game (third best on the team) and leads the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage (49.3).
