Cory Hill to captain Wales in 1st test vs. Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) Lock Cory Hill will captain Wales for the first time in the first of two tests against Argentina at San Juan on Saturday.

Hill will lead a Wales team that has eight personnel changes from the starting XV which beat South Africa in Washington last weekend. That win lifted Wales to fifth place in the world rankings, leap-frogging South Africa and moving four places ahead of Argentina.

Hill will be joined in the second row by Adam Beard and Wyn Jones joins a front row in which Elliot Dee at hooker and Dillon Lewis have been retained.

James Davies will start on the openside flank beside regular backrowers Seb Davies and Ross Moriarty.

Scarlets teammates Gareth Davies and Rhys Patchell will play at scrumhalf and flyhalf while New Zealand-born Hadleigh Parkes and Scott Williams form a new combination in midfield.

''We have made a number of changes for Saturday as we want to give as much opportunity to the squad as possible during this campaign,'' head coach Warren Gatland said. ''Last weekend was an important result in difficult conditions up in Washington and we know we have got two big tests ahead of us against Argentina.

''There is a lot of exciting youth in this squad and Saturday is a chance for them to continue building their experience on the test scene and to put a marker down.''

Ryan Elias, Rob Evans and Tomas Francis will provide the front row cover on the bench beside Josh Turnbull and uncapped backrower Aaron Wainwright. Aled Davies, Gareth Anscombe and Owen Watkin provide the backline cover.
