Coyotes lose defenseman Michael Stone for rest of season
Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said Monday that the knee injury suffered by defenseman Michael Stone in the third period of Saturday's victory over Philadelphia will sideline him for the remaining seven games of the season.
"It's longer term than the season has left in it," Tippett said. "I would say he would be done for the season."
Stone has six goals and a career-high 36 points playing in all 75 of the Coyotes games this season.
"He's played really well," Tippett said. "He's had a real good season. It's disappointing. He's carrying a lot of minutes, playing a lot of different roles on our team."
The Coyotes called up defenseman Alex Grant from Springfield of the American Hockey League, but he was not expected to play in Monday's game vs. Calgary. Nicklas Grossmann will take on added time in Stone's absence.
Tippett also said captain Shane Doan is day-to-day and undergoing concussion protocol. He will not play against Calgary.
