Coyotes sign junior scoring leader Garland to entry-level deal

Right wing Conor Garland, runaway scoring leader in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

The 19-year-old Garland, playing for the Moncton Wildcats, leads the QMJHL with 80 points (21 goals, 59 assists) in 33 games. He has 22 more points than the second-highest scorer in the league.

The 5-foot-8, 160-pound native of Scituate, Mass., has 91 goals and 219 assists in 204 career games with Moncton and set a franchise record last season with 129 points (35 goals, 94 assists) while earning MVP honors in the QMJHL. He was a fifth-round draft choice of the Coyotes.
