Cuban moving on from Mavs missing out on Jordan

Clippers center DeAndre Jordan backed out of a four-year, $80 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks to re-sign with Los Angeles on July 8. Two days after a fiasco that included Clippers teammates Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, along with coach Doc Rivers and owner Steve Ballmer, preventing Jordan from leaving his house or even fielding calls from the Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban insists he is over it.

"You have to get back to work," Cuban told 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM] on Friday. "What are you going to do? We've got an obligation to Mavs fans to do the best that we can for the organization, and every minute I spend worrying about all the other nonsense is a minute I'm not working for Mavs fans. And, so, that's my priority.

"How are we going to do the best job possible if I'm moping and mad? How does that help our team? How does that help Dirk [Nowitzki]? How does that help J.J. [Barea]? How does that help Justin Anderson and Wesley Matthews? It doesn't. You know, and, so, that's what I care about."

Cuban, who has owned the club since 2000, says there will come a time to appropriately deal with the ramifications of a player agreeing verbally during the NBA's moratorium period before teams can officially sign free agents. Cuban placed the percentages of filing a lawsuit of any kind against any party at less than one percent.

"Look, you know how lawyers all come out of the woodwork to try and suggest everything," said Cuban. "So, I say that there is less than a one percent chance just because of the rules of the NBA and I don't know whether it's the right thing to do. But my lawyers have come out and sent me a bunch of stuff I haven't read yet."

Despite missing out on Jordan, Dallas traded a 2015 second round pick for Milwaukee big man Zaza Pachulia on Thursday night and inked guard Deron Williams to a two-year, $10 million deal after he was bought out by the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.
