Let's get to today's interesting facts, using DraftKings prices.
Five Things to Watch:
1. Here are the three highest projected over/unders, provided by OddsShark...
2. Weather: Keep any eye on thunderstorms in the Mets game, but we should be fine other than that.
3. You down with BvP? Albert Pujols is 13-for-30 with 4 HR against Yovani Gallardo. David Ortiz is 8-for-23 with 3 HR against Matt Moore. Matt Kemp is 6-for-12 against Brandon McCarthy.
4. Your three biggest pitching favorites for the night: Brandon McCarthy against the Padres (-205), Lance McCullers against Oakland (-185) and Max Scherzer against the Mets (-177).
5. Sneaky stack options: Arizona Diamondbacks
Jake Peavy has been a little more reliable as of late, but he still owns a 5.14 ERA and is struggling to get strikeouts. The D-Backs are a sneaky stack option on the road and can help save you money. Houston against Kendall Graveman makes sense as well.
Must-Start of the day: Corey Seager, LAD
Smashing the ball, part of our stack and Pedromo gets rocked by lefties (.408 wOBA) this season.
Deal of the day: Edinson Volquez, KC
It's hard to find a decent pitcher at home against an average offense for less than $7000, but Volquez is a bargain at $5500. He might not get you much in the way of strikeouts, but a win certainly isn't off the table.
Avoid of the day: Andrew McCutchen, PIT
Jon Lester isn't a pitcher to target, and McCutchen is just 3-for-21 with 5 K against him lifetime.
Stack of the day: Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are typically underpriced on Draft Kings, and today's is the day to take advantage. Luis Pedromo has a 7.93 ERA in 59 innings and a 2.00 WHIP. This lineup is going to do some damage against him.
Starting pitchers:
Max Scherzer, WAS: There isn't a bigger mismatch on the board than Mad Max against Logan Verrett, and the NL strikeout leader always brings a high ceiling whenever he's on the mound. Scherzer is pricy, but a matchup against a below-average hitting team and pitcher makes sense here.
Lance McCullers, HOU: He's coming off a start where he struck out 10 and the A's really struggle to produce against quality starters. McCullers has 66 strikeouts in 53 innings so we know he's capable of putting up big points.
Edinson Volquez, KC: "Deal of the day"
Catchers:
Buster Posey, SFG: He's an easy choice when there's a southpaw on the hill. He always hits lefties harder than righties.
Yasmani Grandal, LAD: Make sure he starts, but he's part of our Dodgers stack.
First basemen:
Albert Pujols, LAA: Pujols is 13-for-30 with 4 HR against Yovani Gallardo.
David Ortiz, BOS: Ortiz is 8-for-23 with 3 HR against Matt Moore.
Second basemen:
Jose Altuve, HOU: I usually save him for southpaws, but if you go cheap on pitching, Altuve is still the elite option at the position.
Rougned Odor, TEX: In a game with a massive projected run total and owns a .929 OPS over his last ten games.
Third basemen:
Justin Turner, LAD: Pedromo really struggles against right-handed bats (.414) and Turner is available at a friendly price.
Adrian Beltre, TEX: Just $3800 in a game with a massive projected run total.
Shortstops:
Corey Seager, LAD: "Must-start of the day"
Aledmys Diaz, STL: 1.211 OPS over his last ten games.
Outfielders:
Marcell Ozuna, MIA: Power bat against a weak pitcher in John Lamb.
Mike Trout, LAA: Gallardo has struggled and Trout has a 1.102 OPS over his last ten.
Max Kepler, MIN: 4 HR over his last ten games and is in a high-scoring affair.
