Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice for September 2

Published Sep. 2, 2016 2:35 p.m. ET

For those who are unfamiliar with my thought process, I aim to add as many home run hitters as possible to my daily fantasy baseball lineups. One way of doing that is to look at a player's isolated power numbers (ISO). The ISO statistic removes singles and provides a larger weight for each extra-base hit.

I also use the weighted on-base average (wOBA) metric. This stat takes every positive outcome into consideration.

Last year, the league average was a .150 ISO and a .313 wOBA. So, when you see me list a player's ISO or wOBA, you know why I do it.

5 Things to Watch:

1. Highest over/unders for Friday, provided by OddsShark...

2. I'm not including the SF/CHC game because it is the only early matchup on the docket.

3. There are three strong favorites for pitching options: Carlos Carrasco, Julio Urias, and Jameson Taillon.

4. There is some rain in the forecast for ARI/COL, but I would still suggest adding as many hitters as you can from Coors Field.

5. For the BvP readers: Charlie Blackmon is 9-for-14 (.643) with two extra-base hits aginst Robbie Ray ... Danny Valencia is 12-for-20 (.600) with three extra-base hits against David Price ... Also, Evan Longoria is 8-for- 16 (.500) with two home runs against Marcus Stroman.

Yesterday's recap:

Even in a short slate, John Halpin picked another winner. Freddie Freeman was the must-start and hammered a home run. Incorporating a Mets' stack of the first four batters would've netted you six hits, including one Jay Bruce homer.

Must-Start of the day: Carlos Correa, HOU

He has a .210 ISO against righties this season. Also, in the past week. Correa is 8-for-21 (.381) with three extra-base hits.

Deal of the day: Alex Reyes, STL

As your second SP on DK, Reyes is $6,400. He's even more of a bargain if you roll the dice with Reyes as your lone starting pitcher on FD ($5,200). He has struck out 17 batters in 14 innings of work this season. During that span, he's also managed a low ERA (0.64).

Avoid of the day: Jarrod Dyson, KC

He is 3-for-26 (.115) with seven strikeouts against Anibal Sanchez.

Stack of the day: Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks' batting atmosphere is even better tonight as they travel to Colorado. In 2016, Jorge De La Rosa has a 5.06 ERA in two starts against Arizona. Rickie Weeks Jr. is a must in this stack. He has a solid BvP against De La Rosa (.455 AVG) and a great season-long ISO against lefties in 2016. Welington Castillo and Paul Goldschmidt are two other bats to add tonight.

Starting pitchers:

Jameson Taillon, PIT - In his last start, the Brewers roughed him up (3 IP, 5 ER). However, in the two prior meetings with Milwaukee, Taillon combined for 12 innings and nine Ks with only three earned runs.

David Price, BOS - He has struck out at least seven batters in three of the past four starts. Also, Price has allowed two earned runs or fewer in three consecutive performances.

Julio Urias, LAD - He's struck out at least six batters in back-to-back starts and has allowed only one earned run in the past 14.2 innings of work.

Alex Reyes, STL - "Deal of the day."

Catchers:

Welington Castillo, ARI - He has a .298 ISO and a .409 wOBA against lefties this year.

Evan Gattis, HOU - He has a .213 ISO against righties this season.

First basemen:

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI - He has a .248 ISO against lefties this year.

Chris Davis, BAL - He has a .270 ISO against righties in 2016.

Second basemen:

Brian Dozier, MIN - He has a .360 ISO and a .422 wOBA against southpaws this season.

Rougned Odor, TEX - He has a .240 ISO against righties this year.

Third basemen:

Evan Longoria, TB - (See "5 Things")

Danny Valencia, OAK - (See "5 Things")

Trevor Plouffe, MIN - He has a .239 ISO against lefties this year and has hit three home runs in the past week.

Shortstops:

Carlos Correa, HOU - "Must-start of the day."

Andrelton Simmons, LAA - This punt play has a .319 wOBA against lefties this season.

Outfielders:

Charlie Blackmon, COL - (See "5 Things")

Carlos Beltran, TEX - He has a .208 ISO against righties this year.

Rickie Weeks Jr., ARI - He has a .375 ISO against lefties this season.

Ryan Raburn, COL - He has a .244 ISO against southpaws in 2016.
