Dalvin Cook nears program rushing mark, FSU dominates Boston College
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Dalvin Cook ran for 108 yards and Deondre Francois tied a season high with three touchdown passes to help No. 20 Florida State rout Boston College 45-7 on Friday night.
Cook became only the second Seminoles back to go over 100 yards in 15 meetings against the Eagles and the first since Ricky Williams had 109 yards in 1980.
The junior, who also had a touchdown on 18 carries, moved within 19 yards of breaking Warrick Dunn's school career mark of 3,959 yards.
Francois completed nine of his first 11 passes, and the Seminoles scored on their first two drives.
A 6-yard scoring strike to Auden Tate marked the first time Florida State (7-4, 4-3 ACC, No. 18 CFP) has scored on its opening drive since Sept. 24 at South Florida. The freshman was 16 of 24 for 183 yards, but suffered a shoulder contusion late in the third quarter and did not return.
Sean Maguire came in and added a pair of touchdowns. Tate, who had six receptions for 101 yards, had two touchdowns.
Coach Jimbo Fisher said Francois' injury wasn't major and that it is likely he would not miss any games.
"I love the way we came out and started the game. We were very efficient offensively," Fisher said. "We got the lead and were able to play from ahead for once. It felt weird."
The Eagles (4-6, 1-5) had three first downs on their first two drives before having nine straight three-and-outs. They averted a shutout with 3:21 remaining in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Richard Wilson.
"We weren't able to move the ball which caused our defense to stay on the field too long," Boston College coach Steve Addazio said. "We play a lot of good teams which will make us better in the long run. We just need to find a way to get momentum."
POLL IMPLICATIONS
Florida State dropped a spot after last Saturday's come-from-behind victory at North Carolina State, but it should go up a couple spots after its most convincing victory of the season.

Boston College: This is the first time since 2003 the Eagles have faced three ranked teams in a season. Based on the results, they might be hoping it doesn't happen anytime soon. No. 3 Clemson, No. 5 Louisville and 20th-ranked FSU outscored the Eagles 153-24.
Florida State: For once the Seminoles were able to get off to a fast start as it led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. Going into the game, they had been outscored 31-3 in the first quarter in their past five games.

Boston College: The Eagles step outside of conference play to host Connecticut. This will be the first meeting between the two Northeast schools since 2004.
Florida State: The Seminoles close out the ACC portion of their schedule at Syracuse. They have won eight straight over the Orange.
