Danny Granger could return for Clippers' opener vs. Warriors
PLAYA VISTA, Calif. -- The Clippers haven't had a fully healthy roster since the middle of November, but it's possible they may be at full strength for Saturday's best-of-seven playoff series opener against the Golden State Warriors.
Forward Danny Granger, who hasn't played since March 27 because of a strained left hamstring, practiced Thursday and could be available for Game 1 Saturday afternoon at Staples Center.
"I won't know until tomorrow after practice," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said, "but right now, I'm going to say I do expect him to play. I just don't know how much."
Granger, who was signed Feb. 28 after his contract was bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers, has played just 12 games since his arrival. But he's averaging 8.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 16 minutes and has been a valuable contributor with the Clippers' second unit.
Having Granger available, guard Chris Paul said, "would be very important. We already feel like we have one of the best teams in the league because of our depth. We need Danny."
The Clippers have dealt with injuries throughout the season. If the 6-foot-8 Granger can give them minutes as the backup small forward to Matt Barnes, it would mark the first time since Nov. 18 they've had a healthy complement of players.
