Davis healthy enough for ALDS roster

The Tigers got the news they needed Thursday morning - Rajai Davis is healthy enough to make it on to the ALDS roster.

Davis was a question mark after sustaining a pubic symphasis strain in the last weekend of the season, but has recovered enough to make the 25-man postseason squad, knocking Tyler Collins out of the final spot. Brad Ausmus does have some insurance in center field, with both Ezequiel Carrera and Don Kelly capable of playing the position if Davis isn't ready to start the series this evening.

With Davis on the team, the most surprising move might have been the inclusion of Hernan Perez, who only started one game this season, and appeared as a defensive replacement in seven more. With Perez, Andrew Romine and Eugenio Suarez included in the 25-man team, Ausmus will be able to pinch-hit early and often for his offensively challenged shortstops.

On the pitching staff, Kyle Lobstein beat out Blaine Hardy as the second lefthanded reliever, and can also serve as a long man if one of the starters gets knocked out early.
