Spain goalkeeper David De Gea blames Manchester United for the collapse of his move to Real Madrid earlier this week.

United insisted the Spanish giants were responsible for the collapse of the transfer, but De Gea is reportedly "pointing the finger at Louis van Gaal and the Old Trafford hierarchy for leaving him in limbo".


Manchester United have blown their chances of signing players from Real Madrid in the future after the late collapse of David De Gea's move to the Bernabeu.


Manchester United will offer goalkeeper David De Gea a new contract with the player now in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford. However, United do not expect De Gea to sign a new deal.


Manchester United are to change their transfer strategy for future windows by adopting a "less is more approach" to player recruitment.

United spent over £100million on six new signings over the summer, adding to the seven Louis van Gaal signed in his first year in charge.

However, the Red Devils were unable to recruit the sort of marquee player they had targeted after pursuits for Barcelona star Neymar, Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale and Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller came to nothing.

Both Van Gaal and senior United chiefs are said to nevertheless view their summer spending spree as a success, but the club are apparently now "determined to focus on high-end individual signings", with Van Gaal reportedly happy with his squad depth.


Southampton are set to offer holding midfielder Victor Wanyama a new five-year contract after blocking his move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.

Tottenham's offer for Wanyama is reported to have been worth £18million plus Argentine winger Erik Lamela on loan.

The Mail adds that Spurs could return with another offer for Wanyama in the January transfer window.
