Dez Bryant's secrets to a slim, slender frame
Dez Bryant certainly passes the physical freak eye test. Listed at 218 pounds, the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver doesn't appear to have any body fat on his 6-foot-2 frame.
But according to a tweet from Bryant last Thursday, that's not true.
"I got my body fat checked today 3.1%," the tweet stated.
Obviously an outstanding number — even for a professional athlete — that must come with a rigorous workout regime and strict diet, right?
Not quite.
Bryant's next tweet was a response to one of his follower's requests to stop starving himself.
"Bro i eat hamburgers and pizza all the time..I ate 5 slices of pizza from pizza hut last night (laughing out loud)," he wrote.
According to the American Council on Exercise, an acceptable body fat percentage for men is 18 percent to 25 percent. However, for a professional athlete like Bryant, who likely benefits from a fast metabolism and dedication in the weight room, the ideal percentage is between 6 percent and 13 percent, meaning the 23-year-old receiver is actually below the recommended percentage.
HealthCheckSystems.com, says that a certain amount of fat is essential to bodily functions, such as body temperature and insulation of organs and tissues. According to the American Council of Exercise, it's essential for men to have at least 2 percent to 4 percent body fat.
