DFS Fantasy Football Picks: Week 4 DFS Bargain Bin
Similarly to baseball, finding cheaper value players can be ever so critical to the success of your DFS Fantasy Football Picks. In order to unlock the studs of the slate, you’ll need to find the bargain players that provide important salary relief. Here are my top bargain plays for week four on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
Jordan Howard – CHI (RB) – DK $3700
The Bear’s lead back, Jeremy Langford, went down last week with a high ankle sprain. This will open the door for rookie, Jordan Howard, who stepped into the role last week, and should again this week against the Lions. Ka’Deem Carey is also out with a hamstring injury, further reaffirming the implied workload for Howard. Howard is an extremely talented back and won’t need to do anything crazy to pay off a minuscule salary. The Bear’s, being under dogs, does raise a red flag from a game script perspective, but we’ll look for Howard to be involved in the passing game as well, with Chicago’s lack of depth in the receiving core.
Jerick Mckinnon – MIN (RB) – DK $3900
After a lack luster appearance last week, Jerick Mckinnon will draw a much easier match up vs. a sub par Giants’ defense. While Mckinnon will still see a time share with Matt Asiata, he checks all the “rule of thumb” boxes. He’ll be running at home, in a game where Minnesota is a five point favorite. Mckinnon’s upside is capped due to Asiata vulturing the goal line work, but we all know Mckinnon as the SPARQ freak that he is, giving him big play potential.

DraftKings Specific
Carlos Hyde – SF (RB) – DK $4200
DraftKings truly missed the mark with Carlos Hyde‘s pricing this week. While San Fran is still a dog, Hyde is coming from a 28.5 DK point game and returning home. It’s very rare that we see a players salary decrease, after seeing an increase in fantasy output. I won’t be on Hyde in cash games, as they will be trailing and will be subject to Dallas’ snail like pace, but he could be an intriguing option in tournaments. He continues to see goal line work and finding the end zone would more than pay off his $4200 salary.
Terrelle Pryor – CLE (WR) – DK $4300
Terrelle Pryor will give real value in cash games this week, but will be over owned in tournament play. If you missed the boat on Pryor last week, I wouldn’t recommend chasing points this week. As of now, I have Pryor projected at roughly 20% – 30% ownership. We would expect Norman to shadow Pryor, as the Brown’s have no one else of concern, and I think given the ownership it lines up well for a moderate tournament fade. That being said, Pryor is obviously under priced when you take into account that he’s playing three positions and his usage is through the roof, he’s a good bet to return value. At wide receiver alone, he’s received 31 targets through three games. Then factor in his new-found rushing and throwing points, and not to mention goal line work out of the wildcat formation.
FanDuel Specific

Jeremy Maclin – KC (WR) – FD $6900
I touted Maclin last week, to only see him produce a measly 7.5 points. However, this week would be the prefect spot to double down, as ownership should slide and he’ll be facing a much less effective Steelers’ defense. With Kansas City leading much of last week’s game, Maclin’s outlook changed drastically. Maclin brings value when the Chief’s are trailing and Alex Smith locks in on him. The passing game for Kansas City could see a better game script, given the game line of Pittsburgh -4.5. This appears to be a bounce back spot for the Steelers, after getting embarrassed in Philadelphia. I’d look for Kansas City to keep it close, but for Maclin to reap the benefits if they’re trailing.

Travis Benjamin – SD (WR) – FD $6600
While I’d argue that Tyrell Williams is the wide receiver we should be looking at from this Chargers offense, Travis Benjamin is extremely cheap on FanDuel and makes for a top value play, at only $6600. The Chargers have a projected team total of 28.8 points and will be facing a dreadful Saint’s defense. I’d put Benjamin in cash game territory as I expect a healthy amount of ownership heading his way in tournaments.
Hunter Henry – SD (TE) – FD $4500
Gotta love Hunter Henry this week. He’s absurdly priced on most sites, but he’s the stone minimum on FanDuel. He was able to reel in all 5 of his targets last week and more importantly was playing on almost every snap. As long as Antonio Gates is out, Henry will be a useful value play, in an offense that favors moving the ball through the air. Henry did fumble late in the game, but I wouldn’t expect him to lose any snaps because of it.
