Diamondbacks call up Drury, Burgos, Stites as rosters expand
The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled right-handed pitchers Enrique Burgos and Matt Stites and infielder Brandon Drury from Triple-A Reno as major-league rosters expanded on Tuesday.
Burgos, 24, has appeared in 22 games over two stints with the D-backs this season, going 1-2 with 2 saves, a 5.14 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 21 innings. He has gone 0-1 with 11 saves and a 3.70 ERA in 25 outings with Reno and Double-A Mobile, striking out 38 in 24.1 innings.
Stites, 25, was 1-1 with three saves and a 3.86 ERA in 23 games with Reno. He's also appeared in four games for the D-backs, posting a 3.86 ERA in 2.1 innings.
Drury, 23, combined to hit .303 40 doubles, 5 home runs, 61 RBI and 65 runs scored in 130 games with Reno and Mobile. He played 62 games at second base, 61 at third and 9 at shortstop, and is currently tied for fourth in all of the Minor Leagues in doubles. Drury entered 2015 ranked as the Diamondbacks' No. 7 prospect by Baseball America and MLB.com. He was acquired along with current teammates Nick Ahmed and Randall Delgado in the 2013 trade that sent Justin Upton to Atlanta.
