Double trouble: Jose Ramirez sets new Cleveland Indians record
Jose Ramirez can add another milestone to his rapidly growing resume.
On Saturday, Ramirez tallied his 45th two-bagger, setting the Indians' record for most doubles by a switch-hitter in a single season.
The confines of Progressive Field have been friendly to Jose in 2016. Not only did his two-hit performance on Saturday extend his home hitting streak to 13 games, but he and teammate Francisco Lindor ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively in home batting average in the American League entering Saturday's contest.
One night earlier, Ramirez also joined Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana, Lindor, and Mike Napoli by reaching 250 total bases for the season. The only time in Indians history that a quintuplet of players accomplished the same feat was 2005. And as for 2016, only the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles can make the same claim (so far).
