Drew Doughty suspended for Game 2 for illegal hit
The Los Angeles Kings' path to winning it's opening playoff series just became even tougher.
Star defenseman Drew Doughty has been suspended for one game after laying an illegal hit to the head that sent Golden Knights' William Carrier to the locker room in the third period of Wednesday's 1-0 Game 1 loss.

No penalty was called on the hit, but Carrier was not able to return to the game.
Despite Doughty initially making contact with Carrier's arm before leading his shoulder into the puck handler's helmet, the rule states: "A hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted."

Doughty has only been fined once before in his nearly 800-game career.
Game 2 of the best-of-7 series is at T-Mobile Arena Friday at 6:30p and can be seen on Prime Ticket and FOX Sports GO.
