We’re to provide you with the best matchups and players as you set your Fantasy Football DFS lineups for Week 4.
In Week 3 we had a lot of great value plays in the mid-to-low tiers in the running back and wide receivers department.
The problem is, while some of them paid off, some of them also flat out busted. This week I’m going to tighten up on those areas in order to prevent suggesting a handful of players who could end up killing your lineup.
If you’re not familiar with the “tiers” that I mentioned above, here is a quick breakdown:
1. High-tier – These are your “heavy-hitters”. If you play season long fantasy football, they more than likely the players who went in the first few rounds. They will cost you a pretty penny but in the end, it’ll be worth it.
2. Mid-tier – This is where a majority of the players will be located. The key is finding the players with the most favorable matchups and in turn, exceeding the dollar amount placed upon them.
3. Low-tier (value) – These are your bottom-of-the barrel players in terms of pricing, but not necessarily in ability or situation. Not only should these players outperform their salary; they should crush it.
At the end, I’ll provide you with two lineups (one for FanDuel and one for Draft Kings). These lineups should be used for you to use as a base while you plug in some different players you may prefer.

Quarterbacks
High-tier
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons (FD $9,300/DK $7,800): Last week Newton was consistently under pressure by the Vikings defense and he underperformed. Luckily for him the Falcons defense is nowhere near as good. Atlanta’s defense hasn’t given up any less than 275 passing yards and 3 touchdowns in any game this season. Go get your feast on big fella.
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears (FD $8,300/DK $7,300): In two out of three games in 2016 Stafford has averaged 363 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. In back-to-back weeks the Bears defense has been overmatched by rookie QBs. Not to mention, earlier in the week they put CB Kyle Fuller on injured reserve. As we also have seen, the Lions defense isn’t good so Stafford realistically could be throwing the ball well into the fourth quarter.
Mid-tier
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins (FD $7,600/DK $6,100): Dalton was shut down last week but come on, he was playing the Broncos. In Weeks 1-2 he averaged 366 passing yards and 1 touchdown. Miami’s secondary isn’t good and with them traveling on a short week I wouldn’t be surprised if they are especially bad on Thursday Night Football.
Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins vs. Cleveland Browns (FD $7,600/DK $6,500): The yards have been there for Cousins in 2016 (330 per game) but not the touchdowns (3). Yet, the Browns have given up multiple touchdown passes in every game this season.
Low-tier (Value)
Brian Hoyer, Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions (FD $6,000/DK $5,000): Is there some risk here with Hoyer? No, there’s A LOT of risk but that’s how it goes with low-tier guys. The Lions defense has given up four touchdown passes in two out of three games this year. Hoyer did manage to throw 300+ yards and 2 touchdowns last week. Yes it was in garbage time but in fantasy football that does not matter. Do you have the stones?
Running Backs
High-tier
Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs (FD $8,300/DK $7,500): Heeeeee’s baaaaaaack. Bell is an elite RB in a great matchup against a Chiefs defense that is giving up on average 115 rushing yards per game.
David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams (FD $8,700/DK $7,800): Despite the Cardinals having an up and down season, Johnson has remained consistently good. After three weeks he is averaging 129 total yards and 1 touchdown per game. The Rams defense has already allowed four rushing touchdowns to running backs on the season.
Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers (FD $8,100/DK $6,900): The rookie’s carries have increased (20, 21, 30) each week and so has his rushing yards (51, 83, 140). The kid is getting more comfortable and going up against a 49ers defense that has given up 130+ rushing yards in back-to-back weeks, he should get real comfortable in Week 4.
Mid-tier
Melvin Gordon, San Diego Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints (FD $7,600/DK $6,300): Gordon has scored at least one touchdown in every game this season and the Saints just gave up four total touchdowns to the Falcons running backs in Week 3.
LeGarrette Blount, New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills (FD $7,500/DK $5,000): Keep in mind Blount is Mid-tier on FanDuel but is a Low-tier on Draft Kings. Either way, I like him. Blount has scored a touchdown in every game this season and has gone over 100+ rushing yards in back-to-back games. The Bills have given up five rushing touchdowns over the last two games.
Low-tier (Value)
Charles Sims, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Denver Broncos (FD $6,500/DK $5,600): Don’t get scared off by the matchup because it’s not as bad as you think. In back-to-back games the Broncos have given up multiple touchdowns to opposing team’s running backs. Sims will be a workhorse just like last week should see anywhere from 18-20 touches.
Spencer Ware, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (FD $6,200/DK $5,700): This is another volume guy because it looks like Jamaal Charles is going to miss yet another game. The Steelers run defense is typically pretty good but they were gashed last week by the Eagles. I don’t think it happens to that extent this week but Ware could do some damage with this 16-20 touches.
Jordan Howard, Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions (FD $5,600/DK $3,700): You know the theme by now: It’s all about the volume baby. Jeremy Langford will not play and Howard has the ability to be a three-down RB. Howard is averaging 6.1 YPC and had four receptions last week. It wouldn’t be unexpected to see him get close 18 touches against a very bad Lions defense.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – SEPTEMBER 11: Marvin Jones
Wide Receivers
High-tier
A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins (FD $8,100/DK $8,500): In two out of three games this year Green has 8+ receptions and double-digit targets. The Dolphins defense on average is giving up 16 receptions, 191 yards and 1 touchdowns to opposing teams WRs. It’s a great matchup for a great player.
Mid-tier
Marvin Jones Jr., Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears (FD $7,600/DK $7,300): In three games Jones is averaging 10 targets, 6 receptions and 136 receiving yards. The Bears defense is hurting with injuries and there’s a good chance Jones puts a hurting on them on Sunday.
Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals (FD $7,200/DK $6,900): Landry has double-digit targets in every game this season and has 120+ receiving yards in back-to-back games. The Bengals have given up multiple touchdown passes to opposing WRs in two out of three games this year.
Low-tier (Value)
Chargers WRs Travis Benjamin (FD $6,600/DK $5,900) and Tyrell Williams (FD $6,400/DK $4,400) vs. New Orleans Saints: Both of these WRs get a favorable matchup against the Saints and with Keenan Allen and Danny Woodhead out for the season, they will continue to see an increase in targets. Benjamin went off in Week 2 (6/115/2) and Williams leads the team in targets (15) over the last two weeks.
DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals (FD $6,300/DK $5,200): Parker is healthy and at his very reasonable price he’s a good play. He either has 100+ receiving yards or a touchdown in back-to-back games. Don’t forget, last week the Bengals were burned by QB Trevor Siemian for, four touchdowns.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – SEPTEMBER 25: Hunter Henry
Tight Ends
High-tier
Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons (FD $7,900/DK $6,000: Olsen is about as consistent and reliable as it gets unlike a lot of TEs in the NFL. The Falcons have given up a touchdown to a TE in every game this year.
Mid-tier
Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers (FD $6,000/DK $4,500): Witten has been quiet since a good Week 1 but he should get back to it in Week 4. The 49ers have given up 100+ yards and a touchdown to TEs in back-to-back weeks. With Dez Bryant expected to miss the game, his good situation turns into a great one.
Low-tier (Value)
Hunter Henry, San Diego Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints (FD $4,500/DK $2,700): Last week Henry caught all five his targets for 72 yards. This week he should play most of the snaps with Antonio Gates likely to miss his second straight game. The Saints defense has actually been pretty solid against opposing teams TEs but at his price in this potential shootout, I like his chances.
Sep 18, 2016; Glendale, AZ, USA; Arizona Cardinals defensive back Marcus Cooper (41) and cornerback Patrick Peterson (21) celebrate Cooper
D/ST
High-tier
Arizona Cardinals vs. L.A. Rams (FD $5,300/DK $3,900): The very good Cardinals defense gets the home field advantage against a not so very good Rams offense.
Mid-tier
Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants (FD $4,700/DK $3,600): The Vikings defense is just too good not to trot out there in some lineups. Not to mention, there’s always a chance “bad Eli” makes an appearance playing on the road.
Low-tier (Value)
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts (FD $4,000/DK $2,400): Over the last two games the Colts offense has given up 7 sacks while turning the ball over four times. Three out of those four turnovers have turned into defensive touchdowns.
