Forbes unveils the top 10 richest athletes in the world for 2016
Not a bad time to be Cristiano Ronaldo (let's be honest, when is it not ...) -- you just won the UEFA Champions League title and now get to claim the No. 1 spot among the world's highest-paid athletes.
Via Forbes' annual report, Ronaldo earned an unfathomable $88 million last year in both salary and endorsements.
Right behind him? Lionel Messi ($81.4 million) -- proving once again that this epic rivalry goes well beyond the field.
While LeBron James leads U.S.-born players in earnings, 2016 marks the first time Tiger Woods and/or Floyd Mayweather did not make the top 10.
Even more staggering: The Forbes report revealed that the top 100-paid athletes earned $3.15 billion combined in the last calendar year.
Long story short: If you are very good at sports, you get paid a very good amount of money.
