Former Gophers Boddy-Calhoun, Campbell contribute in Shrine game

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Former Gophers Briean Boddy-Calhoun and De'Vondre Campbell each recorded one tackle, helping the helping the West to a 29-9 victory in the 91st East-West Shrine game on Saturday.

Boddy-Calhoun, a 5-foot-11 cornerback from Deleware, played four years for Minnesota, recording 113 tackles and 10 interceptions. He earned All-Big Ten Third Team by the media as a senior and first-team honors as a junior.

Campbell, a 6-foot-5 linebacker from Florida, played three years for the Gophers after transferring from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He made 208 tackles in his career, including 92 this past season.

Former Wisconsin safety Mike Caputo intercepted two passes in the game, including one off former Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave. Caputo earned defensive MVP honors.

Oregon's Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns in less than a half and earned offensive MVP honors. The former Eastern Washington star tossed scoring passes of 93 yards to Purdue's Danny Anthrop, 11 yards to Colorado State's Kivon Cartwright's and 10 yards to Illinois' Geronimo Allison.

Quarterbacks Nate Sudfeld and Jake Rudock also represented the Big Ten at the game.
