Head coach Tracy Claeys and the Minnesota Gophers are once again turning to the University of Oregon for help.

Former Ducks defensive back Eric Amoako announced via Twitter on Friday morning that he will transfer to Minnesota, where he is set to join a defensive corps that ranked No. 6 in the Big Ten last season in total defense and No. 14 in scoring defense. Amoako can play immediately for the Gophers and will have one year of eligibility remaining.

"To all my friends and family I'm blessed and excited to announce that I have received a scholarship to play my last year of college football at the University of Minnesota!" Amoako wrote.

Scout.com's No. 25-ranked defensive back after starring for Martin High School (Texas), Amoako transferred from Oregon to Houston Baptist in 2014.

The 5-foot-11 defender racked up 50 tackles and two interceptions as a senior for Martin, then joined the Ducks' scout team in 2012.

Amoako appeared in just one game for Oregon -- a 66-3 win over Nicholls State in 2013 -- before transferring.

He played a much more significant role on Houston Baptist's defense, ranking third on the team in 2014 with 60 total tackles, while blocking a field goal and returning a fumble 31 yards for a touchdown, before registering 29 total tackles and one fumble recovery last season.

He isn't the first former Duck to trade green for maroon this season.

Dual-threat quarterback Seth Green enrolled earlier this year, participating in spring practice as a freshman after backing out of his commitment to Oregon late last year in favor of the Gophers.
