FOX Sports Wisconsin Midweek Stock Report for Aug. 5

Published Aug. 5, 2015 1:00 p.m. ET

Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.

In other words, whose stock is making a meteoric rise, and whose value is quickly plummeting.

With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the current sports scene in Wisconsin, shall we?

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Bucks' 6-foot-11 rising star put on a show in last Saturday's NBA exhibition game in Johannesburg, South Africa. Antetokounmpo, still just 20 years of age, poured in a game-high 22 points for the Team Africa squad, in a contest that featured a few legitimate, All-Star caliber players like Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul. Antetokounmpo went 10 for 17 from the field, with eight rebounds and three steals. And, the young swing man represented the Bucks well all week, tutoring South African children on the court.

Jimmy Nelson

The 26-year-old righty, who leads the Brewers in multiple pitching categories this season, including wins (nine), innings pitched (136) and strikeouts (114), hasn't allowed an earned run in his last three starts. This past week, he tossed seven scoreless innings while allowing just two hits against the Cubs on July 30, then on Aug. 4, he gave up one unearned run on three hits over 6 2/3 innings in beating San Diego.

Half of the Brewers' bullpen

Neal Cotts, Corey Knebel, Francisco Rodriguez and Tyler Thornburg combined allowed just one run (a solo homer off Cotts) in 12 innings this past week. The group gave up just two hits while walking one and striking out 16 (Knebel had seven of those in three innings).

Jared Abbrederis

The young Packers receiver has been sidelined recently, due to a concussion. Abbrederis, the former decorated Wisconsin Badger, got hurt on the opening day of Packers practice last Thursday after falling hard to the turf during an interception. The Wisconsin native and fifth-round draft pick last year could be a contributor this season, if he can attain a clean bill of health. That's easier said than done, however; you'll recall that a knee injury last year during training camp knocked Abbrederis, 24, out for the 2014 season.

Khris Davis and Jean Segura

Segura makes the down list for the second straight edition after an abysmal 3 for 27 (.111) week with no extra-base hits or walks. Davis was 3 for 20 (.150) with no extra-base hits and nine strikeouts.

The other half of the Brewers' bullpen

While some relievers were spot-on (see above), others weren't as fortunate. Michal Blazek, newcomer Preston Guilmet, Jeremy Jeffress and Will Smith were torched for a combined 19 hits (including four home runs) and 16 runs over just 10 1/3 innings over the past seven days.
