FOX Sports Wisconsin Midweek Stock Report for Dec. 23
Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.
In other words, who is making a meteoric rise, and who is quickly plummeting.
With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the current sports scene in Wisconsin, shall we?
Khris Middleton, Bucks SG
Middleton was instrumental on Sunday, as the Bucks eclipsed the Suns, 101-95. The versatile, third-year player scored 11 of his eventual 26 points in the fourth quarter in Phoenix, helping Milwaukee end its road swing in style. Middleton has scored no less than 15 points in each of his last four contests. The Texas A&M product enters Wednesday night's game against Philadelphia averaging 14.4 points and 3.3 assists per contest.
Matt Tiby, Milwaukee Panthers F
This senior big man is a major reason why the Milwaukee Panthers take a respectable 8-4 record into Wednesday night's game at Minnesota. Tiby poured in 31 points to go along with 17 rebounds last Thursday, in a one-point loss to a solid South Dakota squad. Two games earlier, Tiby had a 15-point, 11-rebound night in Milwaukee's 68-67 win at Wisconsin. The native of Urbandale, Iowa, is currently averaging 15.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per outing.
Michael Carter-Williams, Bucks PG
Carter-Williams appears to be catching his stride, if his recent play is any indication. The young point guard scored 20 points on 9-for-16 shooting, to go along with nine rebounds and six assists, in Milwaukee's six-point win in Phoenix on Sunday. Carter-Williams added 24 points last Friday, in the Bucks' near-upset of the world champion Warriors. The second-year man out of Syracuse is averaging 11.6 points and 5.3 assists this season and 13.7 points per night over his last 10 games.
Jake Ryan, Packers LB
In rather stealth-like fashion, Ryan has put together an impressive 2015 campaign, overall. He led Green Bay's front seven with seven total tackles on Sunday in Oakland and has 23 total tackles over his last three games -- which coincides nicely with Green Bay's current three-game winning streak. After recording just four tackles through the Packers first five games this season, the 23-year-old rookie has picked up the pace and enters Week 16 with 37 total stops this year. The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder is starting to look like a solid value pick after being selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft earlier in 2015.
Jason Kidd, Bucks head coach
Nothing makes a man feel old quite like an aching hip. That affliction has gotten so severe for the 42-year-old Bucks head coach that he has been sidelined indefinitely, due to surgery he underwent on Monday. The former 10-time All-Star point guard had been dealing with excruciating pain in recent weeks, due to a deteriorating hip condition. Kidd's right hip began bothering him during his playing days, which ended in 2013 after a two-year stint with the Knicks. "The pain has been to the point where I can't function," Kidd told Bucks TV.
Jeff Janis, Packers WR
Janis was praised for his speediness after being drafted in the seventh round in 2014, out of Saginaw Valley. Unfortunately, that hasn't translated into much offensive production for Green Bay in 2015. The 6-3, 219-pound receiver failed to reel in any of his four targets on Sunday in Oakland and now hasn't caught a single pass since Oct. 18. The 24-year-old has two total receptions this season, for 79 yards, though he has been a solid special-teams player.
