FOX Sports Wisconsin Midweek Stock Report for March 2
Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.
In other words, who is on the rise this week, and who is quickly plummeting.
With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the Wisconsin sports scene.
Jabari Parker, Bucks forward
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft scored a career-high 36 points against the Houston Rockets on Monday, hitting 16 shots on 25 attempts and adding four rebounds. Parker has now averaged 22.8 points per game since the All-Star break.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks forward
Antetokounmpo also went off against Houston, picking up his second triple-double in just four games. The youngster dropped 18 points, 17 rebounds and 11 assists on the Rockets.
Brett Phillips, Brewers prospect
Outfielder Brett Phillips probably won't make the Milwaukee Brewers' opening day roster, but he's already the most "internet famous" member of the team. A video of Phillips' bizarrely hilarious laugh made the rounds on social media late last week, before the Brewers commissioned teammate Will Smith to tell Phillips terrible jokes on camera Monday in an attempt to provoke more laughter. They did. From all involved.
Anne-Renee Desbiens, Badgers goalie
Desbiens is the NCAA's new queen of the shutout after blanking Minnesota State for her 18th shutout of the season Saturday. The win makes her the league's single-season Division I leader in both men's and women's hockey. Desbiens leads the nation with a .958 save percentage and a miniscule 0.77 goals-against average.
Henry Ellenson, Marquette forward
Ellenson was drawing cheers seemingly every time he touched the ball for the Golden Eagles, but he silenced the home crowd at BMO Harris Bradley Center for the wrong reasons on Tuesday. The standout freshman couldn't put any weight on his left ankle after landing awkwardly in the fourth quarter, while the team has been silent on his injury status so far.
Steve Novak, Bucks forward
The Marquette alum and Wisconsin prep star's career with the Bucks was cut short just three games after it began, when Detroit's Reggie Jackson collided with Novak in the fourth quarter on Saturday, an incident that left him with a season-ending MCL sprain. Novak called his return to Wisconsin a "dream come true" after he signed with the Bucks on Feb. 22.
