FOX Sports Wisconsin Midweek Stock Report for May 11
Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.
In other words, who is making a meteoric rise, and who is quickly plummeting.
With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the current sports scene in Wisconsin, shall we?
Aaron Hill, Brewers second baseman
Hitting three home runs and driving in seven in one game will certainly get you on this list. But Hill's week consisted of more than just one game. He collected 11 hits, including two doubles, in batting .440 and totaled 10 RBI overall.
Brewers bullpen
The Milwaukee relief corps has been solid lately, allowing just three runs over their last 18 innings (1.50 ERA) through Tuesday night's game. It helps that opponents are batting just .161 (10-for-62) over that span.
Ryan Braun and Alex Presley, Brewers outfielders
Braun is putting up MVP-type numbers this season. Entering Wednesday's game, he was carrying a 10-game hitting streak. This past week he had a slash line of 355/412/613. Braun had 11 hits, which included two doubles and two homers, scored five times and had five RBI. Meanwhile, Presley has worked his way into the lineup and stayed there, thanks to a week in which he hit 300/382/500 with two homers.
Nigel Hayes, Badgers forward
It still remains to be seen whether Hayes will stay in the NBA Draft or return to Wisconsin, but getting invited to the NBA combine will help clarify the issue. Many underclassmen weren't invited -- a return to school then becoming a no-brainer. At least for Hayes the NBA is still a consideration.
Tony Granato, Wisconsin hockey coach
The new boss of the Badgers' men's hockey team not only will be pocketing some nice coin, but he's pulling in top recruits already. Not a bad start.
Colin Walsh, Brewers second baseman
The Rule 5 pick has not had an easy time of it in his initial major-league season. In six games this past week, Walsh was just 1 for 13 (.077) with eight strikeouts. Overall on the season he had but 4 hits in 41 at-bats (.098), although he has drawn 12 walks.
Josh Boyd, Packers defensive tackle
A fifth-round draft pick in 2013, Boyd showed promise in 2014 when he played in 15 games, starting four, recording 34 tackles, four QB hits and four QB hurries. However, he tore ankle ligaments early last season and his health was a reason given for his release by head coach Mike McCarthy.
