Frank Lampard to miss MLS All-Star Game through injury
New York City FC midfielder Frank Lampard will miss the MLS All-Star Gamer with a calf injury.
Lampard is still waiting to make his MLS debut after joining NYCFC earlier this year. He is currently recovering from a calf injury sustained in training earlier this month. He has missed the past two games and he is expected to miss Sunday's match against Orlando City at Yankee Stadium (live, 2:30p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports Go).
MLS commissioner Don Garber named New York Red Bulls captain Dax McCarty as Lampard's replacement for the showcase fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday (live, 8:00p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports Go).
McCarty will make his first All-Star appearance after earning the nod to replace Lampard. The veteran midfielder, 28, has five assists in 18 appearances from his holding midfield role with the Red Bulls.
